Relaxing, no pressure kind of place. Just folks. Comfortable beds, quiet, great porch. Options abound, Innkeeper Greg is open, friendly, and easy. Our second time, will go back again.
We enjoyed his sense of humor and the funny notes in his guest book. His staff is new and a little green but pleasant and they want to be helpful.
The Avon beach allows coolers and food (which spring lake does not) but was very clean, quiet, a bit more crowded, but since they do allow coolers we plan to return. There is an area of beach dedicated to surfing and the regular swimming beaches are a bit smaller than Spring Lake but still plenty of space.
was very much looking forward to our stay for two nights.owner came across friendly and helpful upon our first conversation.i didnt get the same feeling when i called back to ask why i did not receive an order confirmation.he was rather short w/me on the phone.i did receive my confirmation and then also received someone else's confirmation in my email w/all their personal information.the b&b is nice looking on the outside,until you go around back to view the 'beautiful coy fish'and you see an unkept small pond thats dirty looking.you may pass the rusted bicycles on your way as well, available to use of course.inside it was HOT,no air going anywhere. after we hiked up two flights of stairs to our third floor room, we were greeted w/ a very friendly housekeeper.probably the best part of our stay.she was sweet and welcoming.the room was clean and HOT.i found the room to be somewhat charming,what you would expect at a b&b stay in an old victorian style home.maybe the owner would want to get rid of the old,disgusting, decorative pillows that have probably sat on the bed for 20 years. That was a turnoff as all I could think of was how many people laid their head and face on them.This place has a great location one block from the beach, and the porch is nice to sit on and relax. we were the only ones at the inn that evening once the innkeeper went home.kinda creepy.Unfortunately we had a family emergency back home and had to leave. We left a kind note and simply asked for a call the next day to discuss the cancellation policy. I was not very concerned w/ receiving my money back and I really did not expect to. What I DID expect was a RETURN call.That never happened. POOR businessman . Lastly, I paid cash and NEVER was offered a receipt.If you are running a professional establishment, this should be done AUTOMATICALLY.I will never stay here again and do not recommend it to anyone.
Im just going to say this bed and breakfast basically saved the day! The hotel we originally planned on staying in (Crystal Inn Neptune) after our 3 hour ride to New Jersey was located next to a "gentleman's club", had a woman out front screaming about rape and robbery, and no blankets on the bed. The phone was disconnected, so there was no way for us to even contact the front desk about the people smoking weed below our balcony. It was 11:45pm and there was no way we could safely stay at that location. We hastily asked for a refund and started a search for another place to stay. We came across this bed and breakfast online and assumed we would be turned away. Who would possibly be awake to check us in at midnight? We called the number on the door and the owner, our new buddy Greg, answered the phone. They had one room left for the night and he was happy to help keep us from sleeping in our car. He woke up the woman watching the house (who was also very lovely for being woken up to deal with us) and they checked us in quickly and kindly. The house was beautful and offered so much for such a reasonable price. It's basically a steal. We found this place on accident during a panic situation, but you better believe we will return here.
He offered us a deal on a cottage for our next stay (which are pet-friendly) if we come back with our dogs.
We usually go to Spring Lake every summer and we decided to change it up this year. Avon Manor was lovely. Be prepared

The 4.4 RATING IS DECIEVING!! This place is HORRIBLE!!! OWNER IS HORRIBLE, it's disgusting, check out the reviews on Trip Advisor because the google rating should be a negative 10!! The owner also owns two other houses in the area which are disgusting as well! Honestly the worst place to stay I swear
Breakfast has a good variety of options, is a man sized meal, and is very tasty. We booked an economy room because we expected to be on the beach more than in the room and to be honest is was the same size as a standard room in spring lake. Not big, but perfect for what we wanted.
